I haven’t been too hot on the next from Pixar (or the last, for that matter), but things are starting to look up. Following the release of a scene last week, we’ve got the first TV spot for Brave. Airing during the Academy Awards (why don’t more studios debut footage there?), it features new footage feature a locale you see above and a snowy mountain, which hints at more adventure than we thought. Perhaps most enticing is the choice of music here, Julie Fowlis‘ gaelic song Tha Mo Ghaol Air Aird A’ Chuain. It is perfectly fitting here and you can see the spot below along with a live performance of the song.

Synopsis:

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

Directed by Mark Andrews, Brave features Princess Merida (Kelly MacDonald), Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), The Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and Lord MacIntosh (Craig Ferguson). It arrives on June 22nd.
