Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Irons Starring Together in ‘The Words’

Written by on February 10, 2011

Can a movie be too handsome?

That’s the question that I’m asking myself as I read that Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Irons are teaming up for The Words. It’s a new drama about plagiarism written and directed by Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal, who were credited for the story on Tron: Legacy, although we won’t hold that against them.

LeanForwardWhilstSquinting (via CinemaBlend) tells us that the original script showed up on the Black List a few years ago, and that it follows a writer who “discovers what the price he must pay for stealing another man’s work.” I’d assume that Cooper is the nefarious writer who steals Irons‘ words, or vice versa, and that it’ll carry some sort of commentary on the world of journalism/plagiarism in today’s climate, done in a fashion like State of Play (not that that’s a bad thing).

Parlay Films will be doing international sales, while that’s being done on the domestic front by Waterfall Media/Untitled. It’s being sold at Berlin’s European Film Market this weekend, and the acting duo of Irons and Cooper should ensure that it gets picked up, even if it’s being done by people involved with Tron: Legacy.

What do you think of this project? Does it sound like a compelling story, or does it not get your attention?
