Further around does the casting cycle spin on Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This time out, Deadline supplies a list of names we should more or less expect for this kind of deal: Alison Brie, Imogen Poots, Teresa Palmer (Knight of Cups), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), and Jessica Brown Findlay (Winter’s Tale, Downton Abbey), the five of whom are vying for a role which, while undisclosed, is apparently something of a squeeze.
A tweeter claims one of these actresses would end up playing Sharon Carter, sister of Hayley Atwell‘s character from the first time out. Seeing as she’d, logically, have to be around 90 during this current era-set film, how would that work? But, back when Poots was first rumored for Winter Soldier — next to Anna Kendrick and Felicity Jones — it was said that character was actually her niece. Who the hell knows with these movies, anyway.
The actresses here comprise a strong lineup, though, and Brie has the biggest chance of anyone, considering the Community star’s big ties to Winter Soldier‘s directors, Joe and Anthony Russo. It’d be good, too, but any of the picks — all of whom are trying to grab a part in a film I really don’t care about — would suit me just fine. Really, Marvel: you can pick anyone.
Jeff Sneider has another little bit of information on the movie, tweeting that Scarlett Johansson will reprise her role of Black Widow. If you want even more egregious tie-ins to future films, this is just the right news.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will open on April 4th, 2014.
