Adam Rodriguez, who has played Eric Delko on CSI: Miami since the show started 9 years ago, may have starred in a few small features before, but he’s never really been significant on the big screen. So whilst this isn’t news of his big break, it could be the day we look back on should he go on to be a big star. After all, he’s only 36.

The first film he’s signed up for is Steven Soderbergh‘s upcoming Magic Mike. He will be playing yet another stripper, alongside Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello. The non-strippers in the cast are Gabriel Iglesias, Olivia Munn, Riley Keough, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Cody Horn. So considering how many actors – most of them already distinguished talents – are in the ensemble, I suspect Rodriguez‘s role shall be reasonably small. Shooting begins later this month with a prospectiverelease date of sometime late next year. You can check out our review for Soderbergh‘s latest film, Contagion, here.

The second film features a similar situation, although this time it’s even larger, a huge ensemble cast. The Dark Knight Rises has consistently been adding every actor you’ve ever heard of for months now, so the addition of Rodriguez isn’t exactly big news, even if shooting has already commenced. He will be acting alongside such people as Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard and Juno Temple, and working under the direction of Christopher Nolan, so no pressure there. Although the role may be small, I suspect he will relish the experience of being on such a phenomenally big feature. The Dark Knight Rises will release wide on July 20th, 2012. [Deadline]
