After Silver Linings Playbook cleaned up last year’s Independent Spirit Awards, Film Independent has returned for their 2014 line-up and today brings our full list of nominations. With no David O. Russell in sight since American Hustle is being released by a major studio, we still have to question some of the nods considering the budgets of a few of the selections.
As we imagine will be a recurring theme over the next few months, Steve McQueen‘s 12 Years a Slave leads the group, while All is Lost, Frances Ha, Inside Llewyn Davis and Nebraska all got recognized for top honors. In other awards it was nice to see Manakamana, Museum Hours, Short Term 12 and The Hunt all get nominations, but sad to that Ain’t Them Bodies Saints didn’t get any recognitions.
