Firstshowing.net points us in the direction of the latest trailer for Inglourious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino’s WWII epic starring Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine, a United States soldier commanding eight Jewish-American soldiers through France to take revenge on Nazi’s by the way of scalping, and also Melanie Laurent as Shosanna Dreyfus, a French-Jewish girl on the run from Nazis who is planning revenge, and essentially the films main character (our Cannes review here). This is the first real trailer since all the way back in February, and provides plenty of new footage:
What can I say? I like. I like a lot. The beginning and end are a little rough around the edges, but the two minutes or so in between are rather glorious (see what I did there?). I’ve said before that I can not wait for this movie to come out. Tarantino has never disappointed me as a filmmaker, and I think this looks like a mixing together of everything I love about his movies. Okay, maybe not Eli Roth or Mike Meyers, but otherwise this looks impressive. Ignoring any mixed buzz that came out of France back in May, this is right towards the top of my most anticipated movies to come out this year. August 21st can’t come soon enough.
