One of the more acclaimed movies to play at Sundance this year was Tom McCarthy’s directorial follow-up to The Visitor, Win Win (read Jordan’s review here). Distributed by Fox Searchlight, it follows Mike Flaherty (Paul Giamatti) as a lawyer and volunteer high school wrestling coach who starts looking after one of his clients (Burt Young), and in the process also forms a relationship with the man’s grandson (Alex Schaffer). The young boy, Kyle, is revealed to have skills at wrestling, and Mike starts to mentor him both on the ring and off.

It also stars Amy Ryan, Jeffrey Tambor, Bobby Cannavale and Melanie Lynskey. The poster certainly has an indie, Fox Searchlight feel to it, although, like Submarine, it doesn’t come off as too much. McCarthy is one of the most talented people working in Hollywood today, when you consider things like his acting work in The Wire, his scripting job on Up or his directing with The Station Agent. His presence alone should get most people excited, and the great reviews it’s received will likely only add to anticipation. You can check it out below, thanks to Vulture.

What do you think of this poster? Are you a fan of McCarthy’s work?
