Auto-tune is one of the worst things to happen to music in the past ten years or so. It’s an ugly-sounding, lazy way of singing, and in my opinion is a worse thing for the music industry than piracy. So how do I react when I hear one of my favorite directors, David Lynch, singing using this awful tool?

I laugh, and I laugh hard.

We’ve been lucky enough to be given this from the enigmatic filmmaker, and we should all appreciate it. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard his singing voice, as his catchy song “Ghost of Love” was used to incredible effect in his otherwise middling Inland Empire, and this sounds completely different from that in sound but similar in…Lynchiness. It’s called “Good Day Today”, and it features the director’s nasally voice auto tuned and some bizarre choices of sound effects. I heavily encourage you to listen to it below, and to then download it from iTunes.

What do you think of this? Will you purchase it from iTunes?
