Right now, the cast for G.I. Joe 2 is mostly up-and-comers, but if THR is correct, a big addition could be taking place rather soon. They claim that Bruce Willis is currently in talks to appear in the movie as General Joe Colton, or “the original Joe.” He first appeared in the 80’s comic series, where he started the group that fights nefarious villains.
The movie has Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Ray Stevenson, RZA, Adrianne Palicki, Elodie Yung, and D.J. Cotrona all set to star, which means that Willis will easily be the biggest name among that group if he signs on. These movies don’t exactly require the presence of stars to do well — being based on a toy line can really pay the bills — but some people in the general public might see it as a more legitimate action movie if someone such as himself is featured. I’m not necessarily one of those people, as I have no interest in this to begin with, but I have to admit that I’d be a little interested in seeing him have some fun in a movie again. Jon M. Chu will direct the film, which begins shooting in Louisiana at the end of this month and will open on June 29th, 2012.
When it comes to people who we already know are starring, Dwayne Johnson tweeted a photo of himself (via LatinoReview) in character as Roadblock. If that weren’t enough for you, he’s shirtless and holding a massive gun. How could you not enjoy that? Take a look at it below:
Would you want to see Willis in a G.I. Joe sequel? Does this picture of Dwayne Johnson make you any more excited?
