After acquiring the drama The Railway Man soon after its Toronto International Film Festival premiere, The Weinstein Company decided to hold off until 2014 before debuting it in U.S. theaters and today brings the first domestic trailer. Led by Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, reviews seemed to be fairly positive out of its premiere and we’d expect a release is in store for the spring, but for now, no date has been confirmed.
Directed by Jonathan Teplitzky, the story based on the life of Eric Lomax (Firth, but played by War Horse‘s Jeremy Irvine in flashback scenes), a man who found himself the victim of torture on the part of interrogators in a Japanese POW camp during World War II. After years of haunted memories, his wife, Patti (Kidman), stages a reunion with one of his captors, played by Hiroyuki Sanada. Check out the trailer below.
