With all of 2012′s animation offerings released, it’s time to take a look at what 2013 has in store and we’ve got a promising option early in the year. How to Train Your Dragon co-director Chris Sanders is returning, this time with Space Chimps helmer Kirk De Micco, for a story surrounding the very first family in The Croods. After an initial trailer mostly staying in the cave, one that expands the story has been released.
In this second look, we can see the family’s mission as the world is perceived to be ending and they must get to safe territory. Introducing a new character that helps them along their journey, we also get a few new jokes and some more appealing locations. Check it out below for the film featuring voice work from Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman.
The Croods is a prehistoric comedy adventure that follows the world’s first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed. Traveling across a spectacular landscape, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures — and their outlook is changed forever.
The Croods arrives on March 22nd, 2013.
