Oh and what a saga it is. It feels like this whole thing’s been around for decades, when the first Twilight only showed up to town in 2008(!). For those counting, that’s around 3 years. Now, here we are, at the beginning of the end. The fourth film in what has become a five film series adapted from a four-book series, thanks to some smart thinking by Summit (following in step with Warner Bros. and those movies about young wizards that have been floating around for a bit).

Behold what it now hath wrought:

I can’t say I’m not intrigued.

Between the wedding and the sex and the baby’s “kick” there at the end of the trailer, the perverse undertow that has always existed beneath the surface of this series seems to be rearing its head. And it’s about time. They’ve got the perfect director for it (Kinsey‘s Bill Condon) and the now-infamous real-life coupling of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson to make for either a Burton/Taylor/Cleopatra-esque disaster or a Brad/Angelina/Mr. and Mrs. Smith-level hit. The smart money’s on the latter, and then some.

Because, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter that they’re having sex and he’s a vampire. As long as they’re married.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 hits theaters November 18th, 2011.
