With his last few efforts including a directionless remake of Death at a Funeral, a laughable update on The Wicker Man and the compelling Samuel L. Jackson-led Lakeview Terrace, we were pleasantly surprised when Neil LaBute decided to scale things down with his latest project, Some Velvet Morning. Featuring Alice Eve playing Stanley Tucci‘s mistress, the one-location drama premiered at Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year and today we have the first trailer.

We were mostly fans of the film saying in our full review, it doesn’t “exactly break any new ground, especially for Labute, but it’s a compelling, uncomfortable watch.” We went on to say it, “grows somewhat predictable and lacks the cruel freshness of LaBute’s first feature film In The Company of Men,” but it’s a “demanding” cat and mouse game. Set for a theatrical release on December 13th and a VOD bow three days prior, check out the trailer and provocative poster below.
