After an Oscar win, some directors go on to create something otherwise they wouldn’t have the chance to, while others continue to stick to what they know best. In the foreign language category, we recently saw The Counterfeiters Stefan Ruzowitzky take on a Hollywood drama with Deadfall, while other recent winners like Michael Haneke and Asghar Farhadi are content with continuing down similar paths. For Susanne Bier, after taking home an Academy Award for In a Better World, she’s doing a mix of both.

The Danish director has not one, but two films coming this year. Likely premiering on the fall festival circuit she has the highly anticipated Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence-led period piece Serena, but before that, her smaller drama Love Is All You Need will hit limited theaters. Starring Pierce Brosnan, we’ve got the first trailer today, which paints this romantic drama as a fairly safe, pleasant offering. Check it out below for the film also starring Sebastian Jessen, Molly Blixt Egelind, Paprika Steen, Kim Bodnia and Line Kruse.

Synopsis:

Philip, an Englishman living in Denmark, is a lonely, middle-aged widower and estranged single father. Ida is a Danish hairdresser, recuperating from chemotherapy, who has just learned that her husband is leaving her for a woman half his age from the accounting department. The fates of these two wounded souls are about to intertwine as they embark for Italy to attend the wedding of his son, Patrick, to her daughter, Astrid.

Love is All You Need opens on May 3rd.
