Before IFC Films launches a domestic trailer, after picking up Walter Salles‘ adaptation of Jack Kerouac‘s classic novel On The Road at Cannes, an international look has been released for the drama. The film stars Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley and Kristen Stewart, along with the supporting cast of Amy Adams, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Alice Braga, Elizabeth Moss. This version gives off a more energetic vibe compared to our first look and includes some critics quotes from the festival.

Unfortunately we were mixed at Cannes (full review here), calling the film an impressive failure, despite strong performances. We said, “there’s no real story to move forward. Each scene is independent of any bigger picture…because Sal, our hero, is passive, we are passive in watching him.” Still, with what looks to be some of the best performances from a young cast, we’re looking forward to give it another look and one check out the trailer below via MSN.

Synopsis:

After the death of his father, Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer, meets Dean Moriarty, a wild and infectiously charismatic ex-con. They hit it off immediately. Determined to avoid the pitfalls of a narrow, prescribed life, Sal hits the road, joining Dean on what evolves into a life-changing physical and emotional odyssey. Thirsting for freedom, they discover the world, the ecstasy of experience, the connectedness of humanity and ultimately themselves.

On the Road arrives on December 21st, 2012.
