After successfully kicking 2012 off with his thriller Haywire, Steven Soderbergh is returning yet again to launch 2013 with the perhaps the first genuinely good wide release of the calendar year with Side Effects. Sadly, with his supposed “retirement” looming it may be the last one we’ll see in quite some time, but after a theatrical trailer, we’ve now got a new one-minute look at the drama.
This new trailer takes no time to ratchet up the tension, as we’re introduced to this conspiracy of prescription drugs gone bad, involving Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Each of our main characters get a brief moment here as the mysterious web of lies and deceit seemingly begins to fall apart. It’s an effective piece and only has us more hyped to see this one in just over a month. Check it out below.
