With a talented ensemble cast, upcoming director and an intriguing storyline which promised a dark, gritty crime film of quality, it was hard not to anticipate Dito Montiel‘s The Son Of No One. However, when it played at Sundance earlier this year, it received a beating and you can read ours here.

The film is based on a book written by director Montiel, who teams up for the third time with his Fighting star Channing Tatum. The rest of the cast is extremely impressive. It includes Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche, Katie Holmes and Tracy Morgan.

I was disappointed by the reviews, but perhaps the critical panning should have been expected considering who directed it. If you ask me, Montiel is a mediocre filmmaker at best. Still, perhaps you’re still anticipating, considering the excellent cast. If you are, today is your lucky day. A new poster and trailer have debuted. Unfortunately, the tense trailer seems not to be representative of the final result. Take a look at the new trailer below.

Synopsis: A young cop is assigned to a precinct in the working class neighborhood where he grew up, and an old secret threatens to destroy his life and his family.

The Son Of No One is due to release on November 4th, 2011.
