After conquering the animated world with their charming feature debut, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, directing duo Phil Lord & Chris Miller are reteaming to take on live action for their sophomore effort. This film is a remake of the 1987-1991 TV series, 21 Jump Street, which starred a then unknown Johnny Depp (who is said to making a cameo in this as his original character). This update will star Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as undercover police officers who investigate a drug ring at a high school, and thus hilarity ensues.

Following the red band trailer, a new one has now been released for the upcoming comedy. Check it out below via Digital Spy:

Also just released is a new poster for the film, featuring Hill and Tatum posing in typical spy style, along with a tagline that gave me a slight chuckle. Check it out below, via Daily Blam:

21 Jump Street also stars Ice Cube, Brie Larson, Rob Riggle, DeRay Davis, Dave Franco, Jake Johnson, Johnny Simmons, Johnny Pemberton, Dakota Johnson, and Ellie Kemper. It is set to be released on March 16th, 2012.

Official synopsis:

In the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are more than ready to leave their adolescent problems behind. Joining the police force and the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover in a local high school. As they trade in their guns and badges for backpacks, Schmidt and Jenko risk their lives to investigate a violent and dangerous drug ring. But they find that high school is nothing like they left it just a few years earlier – and neither expects that they will have to confront the terror and anxiety of being a teenager again and all the issues they thought they had left behind.

Were you a fan of the original TV series? Does the trailer make you think this update could be entertaining? Do you like the poster?
