We wouldn’t be surprised that at one point or another, every major actor or actress gets the option to take part in a biopic. Next up on the docket is Amanda Seyfried, who came off a supporting role in Les Miserables and headed right to Sundance Film Festival for the premiere of Lovelace. Directed by the Howl duo Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, the first trailer has now landed today for the film that follows Seyfried taking the role of Linda Boreman (aka Linda Lovelace), one of the world’s most iconic porn stars after her performance in 1972’s breakthrough Deep Throat.

We were mixed on the film at its premiere, saying, “while it could have easily been unintentionally hokey, Lovelace takes a surprisingly mature approach for a biopic, but one that will be difficult to leave a lasting impression.” This first tease seems to match up, as we are given a fairly conventional look at the events. Check out the trailer and poster below for the film also starring Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley, Hank Azaria, Bobby Cannavale, Chris Noth, Robert Patrick, James Franco, Eric Roberts, Adam Brody, Chloe Sevigny and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Update: Check out the official trailer now in HD, as well a new international look.

Lovelace arrives on August 9th.
