If you’ve seen the first theatrical trailer, then you’re aware of the wild hijinks that director Don Coscarelli has in store for his Bubba Ho-Tep follow-up John Dies at the End. While it wasn’t tame by any stretch of the imagination, Magnet Releasing has now revealed a red band trailer, which certainly confirms its R rating.
From an army of naked people to our main character getting attacked by a severed arm, it’s full of insane imagery. While we’re not sure how it adds up — and perhaps it won’t — this tease gets us looking forward to this year-end treat. Check it out below, via IGN, for the film starring Paul Giamatti, Chase Williamson, Rob Mayes, Clancy Brown, Glynn Turman, Doug Jones, Daniel Roebuck, Jonny Weston and Fabianne Therese.
It’s a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. On the street they call it Soy Sauce, and users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can’t.
