monsters

While Gareth Edwards used Monsters to launch his career to the heights of Godzilla and Star Wars, his debut is also turning into a franchise. Monsters: Dark Continent doesn’t see the helmer return, but it does expand his world, following Johnny Harris (Welcome To The Punch), Sam Keeley (What Richard Did) and Joe Dempsie (Game Of Thrones) in the story of the infected zones spreading with more characters taking part in the defense.

Coming from director Tom Green (Misfits) this story shows surprising visual scope for what we imagine is still a modestly-budgeted feature. There’s certainly the effective monster teases, but it looks like Green is successfully keeping the story character-based, as Edwards did. Featuring oddities such as dog vs. monsters fighting, hopefully Green has crafted a worthy sequel. Arriving in U.K. theaters on November 28th, but no U.S. date set yet, check out the trailer below.

Ten years on from the events of Monsters, and the ‘Infected Zones’ have now spread worldwide. In the Middle East a new insurgency has begun. At the same time there has also been a proliferation of Monsters in that region. The Army decide to draft in more numbers to help deal with this insurgency. We follow four fresh new recruits from Detroit as they all excitedly look forward to performing what they were trained to do.
