While The Blair Witch Project helped launch the found-footage genre to the mainstream public, back in 2009, Paranormal Activity repopularized it, leading to a wealth of sequels, knock-offs, and even experiments applying it to other genres. Considering how profitable it is for studios to use this method of storytelling, we imagine it won’t go away, but this year the Oren Peli-launched series will come to an end.

The sixth and final film in the franchise, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, marks the directorial debut from editor Gregory Plotkin and is said to “answer all of the questions” that the series has offered up to this point. Today brings the first trailer, which we imagine fans of the franchise will eat up, but I’d take Crimson Peak for my October horror over this any day of the week. Check it out below.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension opens on October 23rd.
