With many, many, many, many trailers (did I say many?) for The Muppets already arriving, we never actually got a sense of the story. Billed as the “final” trailer, we actually have an idea for what to expect in this new film featuring Jim Henson‘s creations. Up to this point I expected a string of parodies. But no, there is an actual story at play and this trailer gives a hint and includes a few new jokes as well as what is probably a miniscule amount of the cameos in store, notably Jack Black.

Written by Forgetting Sarah Marshall filmmakers Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, and directed by Flight of the Conchords HBO show helmer/writer/executive producer James Bobin, The Muppets stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper. Check out the trailer below.

Synopsis:

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.

The Muppets hits theaters November 23rd, 2011.
