In 1958, 21-year-old Yves Saint Laurent became Christian Dior’s head designer. Over the course of the next two decades, Laurent became one of the most influential minds in the fashion industry and brought ready-to-wear lines to runways as the visionary behind his own brand. His life and legacy are now the subject of a French-made biopic, and a new trailer has arrived to showcase all the amazing costumes and performances.

Directed by Bertrand Bonello, Yves Saint Laurent follows the designer from “the beginning of his career in 1958 when he met his lover and business partner, Pierre Berge.” Featuring Gaspard Ulliel in the title role, the film – which was picked up by the Weinstein Company last spring – looks like a feast for the eyes of anyone who appreciates beautiful clothes. It also offers an interesting cast, including Blue is the Warmest Color star Lea Seydoux and Jeremie Renier as Berge. It’s a little disappointing to think that, despite rumors, Willem Dafoe didn’t actually sign on to play Andy Warhol, but beyond that, this is still a promising glimpse. See trailer below:
