The newest trailer for Tron Legacy, which debuted along with Alice in Wonderland in IMAX 3D, is now online. The follow-up to the 1982 cult classic is directed by Joseph Kosinski and stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain and Beau Garrett. New stills of Disney’s Tron: Legacy have emerged via /Film. They mostly consist of shots from the new trailer which will be attached to Alice in Wonderland this Friday. Walt Disney Pictures has released this new photo of Jeff Bridges in Joseph Kosinski’s Tron: Legacy. Bridges was also nominated for Best Actor for Crazy Heart this morning. In an interview with MTV Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski gave same details about his upcoming December film. One of worthy note is how the 3D mirrors the way Wizard of Oz used color. Tron Legacy, the sequel to 1984’s cult classic Tron, is still a year away, but the anticipation for it is quite high for some out there. The first teaser made a surprise appearance at Comic Con all the way back in July 2008 and has impresses those who have seen it in 3D, as the film will be taking on that burgeoning format. Star Jeff Bridges is slated to return to the role of Kevin Flynn, this time it seems taking on a villain role as opposed to his work as the protagonist in the original. The Walt Disney company is planning on making a remake of the 1979 sci-fi movie The Black Hole. The Hollywood Reporter is saying the director and the producer of the 2010 sequel Tron: Legacy, Joseph Kosinski and Sean Bailey respectively, will be teaming up with Clash of the Titans writer Travis Beacham to handle the movie.

The Black Hole can best be described as an incredibly campy and classically written space opera. Think early Star Trek episodes. Yes, that campy. Ironically, at its time, it was the most expensive movie Disney made. The Tron: Legacy team may be able to pull it off. Black Hole has many sci-fi similarities with the original Tron so the already have one foot firmly planted in the ground. A part of me hopes that this movie will take advantage of its over the top roots and be tongue-in-cheek.

Disney is pulling a lot of old things out of the bin. Should they stop recreating old movies?
