Only a few weeks ago it was reported that commercial director Carl Rinsch was set to direct the Alien prequel, but now that may not be the case. According to Entertainment Weekly and their sources 20th Century Fox will only movie forward with the Alien prequel if Ridley Scott directs. It was first rumored that Scott would direct the prequel, but that rumor was debunked when Carl Rinsch was announced as the director.

While I did get to interview with 20th Century FOX CEO Tom Rothman, he was of course very vague about some of the studio’s upcoming films, but the details he gave me were rather interesting.

IESB got a chance to talk to 20th Century Fox CEO Tom Rothman who gave some details about another possible Alien installment, with possibly Ridley Scott’s name on it. Rothman stated “some talk”of an Alien prequel”, then he went on and commented on Scott’s possible involvement by saying ”I think he’s toying with the idea… and that would be great for us. It’s always been a matter of, really, if you could get the originator to do it.”

Last August it was reported that director Gavin Hood (Rendition) and 20th Century Fox’s CEO Tom Rothman were having creative differences regarding the dark tone of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and of a specific set. Rothman, against director Gavin Hood’s wishes had the whole set repainted. Now Gavin Hood has come out to defend Tom Rothman.
