15 Films From Comic-Con To Get Excited For

This year was my first time attending the infamous Comic-Con and it couldn’t be closer to being a wonderful experience. It’s a nerd’s heaven. You’re surrounded by people as passionate or even more-so around the things you love. While the best part for me was meeting people whose writing I’ve followed for quite sometime now, it was also a nice kicker to learn a bit more about some of the upcoming films that were showcased there. Even though I saw pretty much no footage – excluding Thor – the word-of-mouth travels at light-speed that it’s almost as if you don’t even need to be there. Also, thanks to some shoddy flip-cam work it’s pretty simple to find the Q an A’s from the panels online to learn more about some of these upcoming films. Read the full story

New Logos For Captain America And Thor

Marvel has released new logos for the upcoming films Thor and Captain America. According to Slash Film, the logos made their appearance at the 2010 Licensing International Expo.

The logos, seen above, are fairly standard and out of the two, I like Captain America the best. Buzz is starting to build up for these two films and they’ve both seen a fair amount of news coverage lately. Just this week it was announced Stanley Tucci will star in Captain America. Early ‘Thor’ Concept Art Surfaces

Yesterday we got a look at Chris Evans and his upcoming film Captain America. Today we get a look at another superhero movie, this time it’s Thor. A few pictures have surfaced on Collider that show Chris Hemsworth as Thor, in costume and all. Remember that this is just concept art and it is still very early on in the game for the upcoming film. The costume is bound to change and when the movie does come out, things could look very different (although you can see the first snap of him above). Nevertheless, check out the pictures after the jump and enjoy.

Joss Whedon A Leading Contender In Directing ‘The Avengers’

Every geek knows what ‘The Avengers’ are. For those who don’t know they are a combination of Marvel superheroes including Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, and Ant-Man. Likewise, every geek knows who Joss Whedon is. And again for those of you with lives, he is creator of cult tv shows like Firefly, Doll House, and of course Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Well every geek in the world will be passing out when they hear the IESB exclusive. Joss Whedon is being named the leader of contenders in a short list of directors to make The Avengers movie. The only other name known is Louis Leterrier who did The Incredible Hulk and most recently Clash of the Titans. There is no question who should get this. Whedon would be beyond perfect.

Then again, such perfect news lands suspiciously on what could be the cruelest day of the year if this all turns out to be fake.

Can you think of a better director other than Joss Whedon to direct The Avengers?

Liam Hemsworth Will Lead Chuck Russell’s ‘Arabian Nights’ in 3D

Liam Hemsworth Will Lead Chuck Russell’s ‘Arabian Nights’ in 3D

Liam Hemsworth, who is playing Miley Cyrus’ love interest in Disney’s The Last Song, is currently in negotiations to take the lead role in Inferno Entertainment’s 3D adventure film, Arabian Nights.

Directed by Chuck Russell and written by Russell and Barry P. Ambrose , the period epic centers on a young commander (Hemsworth) who, after his king is murdered in a coup, joins forces with Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Genie from the magic lamp to rescue the queen, Scheherazade.

Inferno’s Bill Johnson is producing with Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray of Mayhem Pictures. ROAR also is producing.

Although a relative unknown Hemsworth also appeared in last year’s Nicolas Cage thriller Knowing. His brother, Chris Hemsworth is similarly gaining credit within the film industry through action movies such as Star Trek and his title character role in the Marvel superhero action fantasy Thor which is still in production.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filming is to start at the end of summer.

While this role in Arabian Nights won’t be winning Liam Hemsworth title roles in Marvel movies any time soon, it is still a step in the right direction after his Disney role. As for Arabian Nights itself, it could be a small hit with the added bonus of 3D sales, but is unlikely to make much of a mark among other competing 3D films.

What do you think of Liam Hemsworth being cast in Arabian Nights?
