New Poster And Trailer For Tilda Swinton’s ‘I Am Love’

The Playlist has pointed out a new poster (pictured above) and trailer for writer/director Luca Guadagnino‘s I Am Love. The film most notably stars Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton (Michael Clayton) as a woman caught between love affairs. Swinton‘s career has been on the rise of late, giving notable performances in Burn After Reading, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Julia, and several reviews suggest that she’s in terrific form once again with this Italian drama. Be sure to check out early reviews from The Hollywood Reporter, Cinema Blend, and InContention.

Watch the embedded trailer of I Am Love below, which IMDb describes as “a tragic love story set at the turn of the century in Milan.”

The film is scheduled for a limited release on June 18th.

Visual Effects: 100 Years of Inspiration

visualeffects

The video shows the transformation of visual effects in the past century. I came across this on Firstshowing via YouTube user bengraphics. It’s truly remarkable how far filmmaking has advanced and with films like James Cameron‘s Avatar coming it will be interesting to see where technology heads in the next few years.

[Review] The Time Traveler’s Wife

1timetraveler Warning: This review does contain spoilers.

The Time Traveler’s Wife is a love story that actually isn’t cringe inducing — despite the ads suggesting otherwise. While the film is heavily flawed, it still remains engaging and entertaining. This is oddly similar to last year’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Button is the superior film, but they are reminiscent in tone. Both films are standard dramas, but have an out-of-this-world character as the lead. Benjamin Button is a fantastical character and Henry DeTamble belongs to the science fiction realm, and yet both films do not belong to those genres. This is a drama that uses a science fiction element to drive the relationship.

The 15 Most Exciting Summer Movies

15mostexcitingmoviesheader

By Jack Giroux

2008 was a great summer for the movies. Good entertainment was had, and not just dumb popcorn movies for once. We got The Dark Knight, Wall-E, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Iron Man, Tropic Thunder, and Pineapple Express. This summer is even going to be better. Although the start was a bit shaky with Wolverine, Star Trek kicks it off right this weekend. Here are the top 15 stand out films this summer:

15- Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen

Release Date- June 24th

transformers2superbowl

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen will inevitably offer no more then a lot of explosions and CGI, but with robots. While the first film wasn’t a landmark of any kind, and mostly dumb, it was fun none-the-less. The 147 minute running time for the new one is a bit bothersome, but long running times are fine when the story calls for it. My only question is do we really need to see robots fighting for that long? Its a Michael Bay movie, there will only be good action, nothing more. Even the length of the first movie was a problem, the last thirty minutes turned into nothing but repetitive action. Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen will without a doubt be a fun action movie, even if it extends its welcome.

[Review] ‘Knowing’

knowing

The latest sci-fi flick by director Alex Proyas is an impressive and surprisingly ambitious film. Proyas is the genius behind Dark City and The Crow, and yes he also did I, Robot, but it is easy to give him a pass for that mindless action spectacle since he didn’t have creative control. Where does Knowing stand compared to those movies?  Its by no means on level of with Dark City and The Crow, but it does manage to excel beyond I, Robot.
