Malick’s ‘Tree of Life’ To Offer Brad Pitt As Never Seen Before?


With auteur Terrence Malick’s fifth film in as many decades coming out this November, starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn as father and son respectively (living in different generations of course), it begs the question: what kind of father will Pitt play?

Apparently not a very good one, a role that could be a refreshing, villainous departure for the perennial movie star cum character actor.

Terrence Malick’s ‘The Tree of Life’ Coming This November


What a long wait it’s been. Rumored for a release last fall, Terrence Malick’s next epic, The Tree of Life will now hit theaters November. indieWire’s Anne Thompson spoke to the distributor Apparation’s Bob Bearney and he said it will hit U.S. theaters this November and possibly still have the much anticipated Cannes 2010 premiere. Bale and Bardem Join New Terrence Malick Project


Even though he is known for being rather reclusive and hidden from the media, renowned director Terrence Malick has allowed word to get out of his latest project. Deadline Hollywood is reporting it will host a star studded cast including,”no less than Christian Bale, Javier Bardem, Rachel McAdams, and Olga Kurylenko.” The untitled feature is slated to begin shooting this autumn and is currently being described as a romantic drama. Terrence Malick’s ‘Tree of Life’ To Be Released This Year?

Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life has been kept very under wraps so far and there hasn’t been a release date announced yet, but it may  be coming to theaters in 2009. Screen Daily (via Hollywood Elsewhere) is reporting that the film has picked up distribution at Cannes and that it may be released this year. The film wrapped over a year ago and Malick is still apparently cutting the film. The film stars Brad Pitt and Sean Penn as brothers.

[Tree of Life Update] It’s Going to be Two Movies!! One in IMAX!

Apparently, there will be two Terrence Malick films to feast on in the near future. As reported over at AICN, the upcoming Malick film The Tree of Life, starring Sean Penn and Brad Pitt, will be two full, separate movies, the first of which will be the narrative The Tree of Life which we’ve all been expecting while the second will be an “‘imax only’ feature depicting the birth and death of the universe.” (AICN)

Terrence Malick’s ‘Tree of Life’ To Have IMAX Dinosaurs?

Jeffrey Wells (via Hollywood Elsewhere) reports on Malick’s new epic movie starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. Here is a snippet from the Empire interview:

“We’re just starting work on a project for Terrence Malick, animating dinosaurs, the film is The Tree of Life, starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. It’ll be showing in IMAX — so the dinosaurs will actually be life size — and the shots of the creatures will be long and lingering.” — from an Empire magazine interview with VFX artist Mike Fink that some sources claim to have read but which can’t be located by the mag’s search engine.
