Since busting on to the scene with Arrested Development in 2003, Michael Cera has worked with many of today’s most popular comedians, and you’d have to be living under a rock to not have seen at least one of his films. Some say he is risking overexposure. But I say Cera has been steadily working toward Kevin Bacon status, developing a film career worthy of his own 6 degrees game.
To be a truly effective Party Game Icon, Cera would have to link to a variety of film actors to allow for a range of players to participate:
- a major Hollywood star (for casual movie fans)
- an international film star (for film students)
- an independent film star (for hipsters)
- a film star from Hollywood’s golden age (for anyone over 25).
As you can see below – Cera’s plotted his course well:

Do you believe Michael Cera has reached Kevin Bacon status? Give us your examples in the comments below.

Recently X-Men: First Class producer, Lauren Shuler Donner, spoke with Crave about the upcoming addition to the X-Men franchise. Among the nuggets she dropped for eager fan boys was a potentially crushing one: the Magneto solo movie is no more.
What we know so far about X-Men: First Class is it will be set in the 1960s, and Magneto will be played by thirty-three year old Michael Fassbender while Charles Xavier will be played by thirty-one year old James McAvoy. Donner explained that X-Men: First Class takes on much of Magneto’s origin using “Magneto history. Stuff from the Marvel/Magneto history”, thereby cooling any interest in a lone Magneto feature.

With a Saul Bass-inspired poster having been shown to us a few months ago, the new poster for the Ryan Reynolds thriller Buried is now filled with quotes from critics who have seen the film. It’s a pretty well crafted piece of marketing material, and you can enjoy it in all of its glory below (via LatinoReview).

The plot of Buried follows Ryan Reynolds as Paul Conroy, a “U.S. contractor working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.” I like pretty much everything we’ve seen from the movie so far, and I think that this could really be a lot of fun. The film is scheduled for release on September 24th.
What do you think of this poster? Are you excited for Buried?
