Finally ‘The Rock’ Has Come Back… To Action

According to Variety, CBS Films is set to start a new action movie directed by George Tillman Jr., best known for his film Men of Honor, and to star none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Johnson hasn’t done any real adult films since Southland Tales and Get Smart. Now it looks like The Rock is going be back kicking ass and taking names in a new film titled Faster.

According to Variety the films plot is as follows:

“Johnson will play an ex-con bent on avenging the death of his brother, who was murdered 10 years earlier when the two were double-crossed during a heist.”

Thank god. I have been waiting for an announcement like this. Unlike certain other wrestler-turned-actors, (I’m looking at you John Cena) Johnson actually knows how to deliver. Would I have preferred Johnson to be working with a more notable action director? Of course I would, but this will do for now. I can’t wait to see the first footage from this film.

The film is set to begin production early next year. As of yet, no other information has been released.

Are you ready for The Rock’s return to action?

Disney Chairman Steps Down

Disney Chairman Steps Down

Dick Cook

Dick Cook, the chairman at Walt Disney Studios for the last 38 years, has left “effective immediately,” according to Variety.

After a string of recent box office disappointments (Race to Witch Mountain, Confessions of a Shopaholic, etc.), Cook fell into some apparent hot water with CEO Bob Iger.

Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood initially reported that Cook was fired, and now reports that Cook “had a choice” according to Disney execs. While all this is extremely speculative, the “effective immediately” wording in the Variety article suggests a somewhat timed departure for everyone involved.

What do you think about this? Was it time for Cook to go?
