On paper, The Expendables sounds like heaven. All the B-action stars we (mostly) love, directed by Sylvester Stallone in a non-stop action film sounds like the best time one could have at a theater. When the film kicks off Stallone seemed to have delivered what he promised and intended, but soon it’s apparent that’s not the case. There are hints in the opening that this isn’t the ultimate 80′s callback we were expecting, with CG blood, CG lasers, and the CG in general, but it was still promising. According to Hollywood-Elsewhere the reason for the lack of footage in the recent trailer for The Expendables is because Stallone and the studio are deciding whether to release the PG-13 cut or the R rated cut. Seriously? Releasing the film with a PG-13 rating? That would be the worst possible decision they could make. Read the full story

We’ve all seen sequels. We all know the pitfalls that they can come up against. Especially when the sequel is in the superhero genre, where the scrutiny is far more intense. And more so still when the original was well-received by critics and fans alike. Yes, we’ve all seen them. Except Jon Favreau. At least, that’s what we’re left to assume. The veteran actor told the Orlando Sentinel he will play infamous Mongol warrior Genghis Khan in a biopic, written and directed by John Milius, the scribe behind Apocalypse Now, Dirty Harry and Jeremiah Johnson. He also directed the Conan the Barbarian and Red Dawn in the 80s.
