Thanks to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mickey Rourke has provided some in-depth insight on his upcoming film Passion Play. Having apparently just wrapped shooting, the film centers on a troubled trumpet player (Rourke) and a winged angel (none other than Megan Fox) who attempt to rescue each other from their desperate circumstances. According to Rourke, the project is nearly ten years in the making, and his relationship with writer/director Mitch Glazer dates all the way back to the days they went to high school together. Jimmy Hayward, co-director of Horton Hears a Who!, is looking at 10 days of re-shoots for his upcoming live action debut, the summer action film Jonah Hex. Francis Lawrence, who directed I Am Legend, will be helping him during the process. Heat Vision Blog is reporting that stars Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Megan Fox and Michael Fassbender will be a part of the 10 day reshoot in Los Angeles. “Although no test screenings have taken place, the studio has decided to work on story and action during the shoots, working in 12 pages of additional script mixed in with some re-shoots.” There are conflicting reports that those shoots will help a film that didn’t turn out so well or that that they are geared to add some weight to stand next to the other big-budget films of the summer.
Plot: In the Wild West, a scarred bounty hunter tracks a voodoo practitioner bent on liberating the South by raising an army of the undead.
Jonah Hex hits theaters June 18th, 2010.
Are you interested in the film? Do you think the reshoots are to help a film that is in distress or add to make it better?

Jennifer’s Body comes from the Oscar winning mind of Diablo Cody, the writer behind the very good Juno and the highly enjoyable United States of Tara. This film features the same form of dialog — hipster lingo filled with pop culture references. It’s less successful this time around due to the scare-less gags, hit and miss comedy and the fact that there’s no character that is nearly as compelling as Juno. It tries to find the perfect balance between horror and comedy, and it just doesn’t work.
After a voodoo sacrifice event, the beautiful and condescending Jennifer (Megan Fox) becomes a man eating demon. She obtains this curse after being taken away to a voodoo sacrifice event after a blazing fire erupts at a crappy small town bar. From there on, she’s hungry for eating horny teen boys. While Jenifer continues to devour boys to feed her appetite, her BFF Needy (Amanda Seyfried) is hesitant and unsure about what to do. She’s lived under Jenifer’s gigantic shadow throughout her whole life and now she must kill her. After finally getting rid of this hesitation, she’s ready to stop Jennifer after she starts eyeing her dorky boyfriend Chip.
This was obviously intended to be a throwback to the fun horror comedies of the 80’s, but all it does is rehash old tricks. The story is, for the most part, fairly predictable. As stated earlier, this is extremely formulaic. When characters such as the jock and the hilarious goth kid are introduced, its not hard to predict their character’s fates. There’s also a few plot points that aren’t fully expanded on. Needy’s relationship with her mother is a completely wasted subplot and the rules of Jennifer’s condition also aren’t fully explained. When she’s full and fed, is she back to normal and just aware of her curse/actions? Is she just partial demon during these moments? Does she enjoy this power? The film never explains. Much of the story feels half baked and rushed. It’s messy and not very original, and it also features one of the year’s most cringe worthy and laughably over dramatic death scenes. A letter written by 3 Michael Bay crew members (this is confirmed since the letter was originally posted on Bay’s official site before the webmaster took it down) in response to all of Megan Fox’s recent comments has been released online and it states the following:
This is an open letter to all Michael Bay fans. We are three crew members that have worked with Michael for the past ten years. Last week we read the terrible article with inflammatory, truly trashing quotes by the Ms. Fox about Michael Bay. This letter is to set a few things straight.
Yes, Megan has great eyes, a tight stomach we spray with glycerin, and an awful silly Marilyn Monroe tattoo plastered on her arm that we cover up to keep the moms happy.
Michael found this shy, inexperienced girl, plucked her out of total obscurity thus giving her the biggest shot of any young actresses’ life. He told everyone around to just trust him on his choice. He granted her the starring role in Transformers, a franchise that forever changed her life; she became one of the most googled and oogled women on earth. She was famous! She was the next Angelina Jolie, hooray! Wait a minute, two of us worked with Angelina – second thought – she’s no Angelina. You see, Angelia is a professional.
We know this quite intimately because we’ve had the tedious experience of working with the dumb-as-a-rock Megan Fox on both Transformers movies. We’ve spent a total of 12 months on set making these two movies.

Yahoo! Movies has released the poster for Jonah Hex. The film stars Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, Michael Shannon, John Malkovich, and Will Arnet. The film has also been bumped up from August 6th to June 18th, 2010. Check out the poster below.

I thought Megan Fox only had a small part in this film but it is looking like she is getting top billing. It’s interesting that the film got pushed up so far, seems like Warner Bros has a bit more faith in the film. I’m looking forward to it, especially because of the cast (minus Fox).
Are you looking forward to Jonah Hex?

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for the upcoming Jennifer’s Body over at Shock Til You Drop, the trailer was originally suppose to debut this Friday with Bruno. The story revolves round high schooler Jennifer who becomes possessed by a boy eating demon. After her best friend Needy learns about her demon and boy eating problem she learns she must fight her off to save all the boys and herself. Jennifer’s Body is written by Diablo Cody and is directed by Karyn Kusama (Aeon Flux). The film also stars Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, J.K. Simmons, Adam Brody, and Amy Sedaris. Jennifer’s Body hits theaters September 18th, 2009.
This actually looks surprisingly good. Not enough horror comedies are released now a days, except for the great Drag Me to Hell which was criminally overlooked by general audiences. Its got everything the horror geek inside of me wants i.e lots of over-the-top blood, a funny story, and cheesy one liners. Another aspect that I am so impressed by is that Megan Fox actually looks good here. Maybe she was right that she could be a good actress if she was given the right material, which she wont get from the Transformers films. She looks funny, scary, and even kind of intimidating. Hopefully the end product lives up to this fun trailer.
Are you still excited for Jennifer’s Body? What do you think of this trailer?

Editor’s Note: This review does contain spoilers.
Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen is an underwhelming follow up to a highly entertaining blockbuster. This sequel does contain “explosive action”, but it comes too scarce and is almost incomprehensible. It is incredibly dumb, bloated, and runs far too long for an action film with no brain. This is, without a doubt, one of the biggest disappointments of the summer.
After fighting in a war Sam Witwicky is trying his best to live a normal life while going off to college. After discovering the last remaining piece of the all spark he starts seeing symbols leading to the truth about the Transformers ancient origins. Sam is taken away from his failed attempt at a normal when it becomes known that the fallen Decepticons are soon ready to rage war. They soon attempt on taking him prisoner to bring total destruction upon earth. With the help of Optimus Prime and the other Autobots, Sam must once again fight his way to saving mankind.
