In many ways, it seems to be much ado about nothing. Mark Ruffalo is (or shortly will be) Marvel’s new Hulk, to star alongside all of their other superheroes in the much-anticipated Avengers film [Deadline].
But one has to imagine since it’s the Hulk, not Captain America or Iron Man, it’s B-property and someone who’ll get something of a supporting role in the film.
And maybe that’s a good thing. The third time’s the charm and should be here, by making the green meanie part of a feature film rather than the entire feature film. Ang Lee and Eric Bana couldn’t do it, and neither could Louis Letterier and Ed Norton.
Joss Whedon writes supporting characters well (see Firefly) and do a lot with the precious little Bruce Banner has to offer in 20 minutes or so. Ruffalo could take that and make it even more interesting. Just as long as they keep everything on the back burner, and leave the super-heroing to real superheroes.
Are you excited Mark Ruffalo is the Hulk?

Yesterday we got a look at Chris Evans and his upcoming film Captain America. Today we get a look at another superhero movie, this time it’s Thor. A few pictures have surfaced on Collider that show Chris Hemsworth as Thor, in costume and all. Remember that this is just concept art and it is still very early on in the game for the upcoming film. The costume is bound to change and when the movie does come out, things could look very different (although you can see the first snap of him above). Nevertheless, check out the pictures after the jump and enjoy.
We’ve all seen sequels. We all know the pitfalls that they can come up against. Especially when the sequel is in the superhero genre, where the scrutiny is far more intense. And more so still when the original was well-received by critics and fans alike. Yes, we’ve all seen them. Except Jon Favreau. At least, that’s what we’re left to assume. Otherwise, it’s as though he had a checklist of ‘sequel dont’s’ and systematically went about checking them off. Read the full story
Joss Whedon‘s role in the Marvel Universe is like a black hole, sucking up new projects left and right. Earlier this month it was reported that Joss was going to direct The Avengers, the story of Marvels finest teaming up as one big group, but now it seems he has taken the script mantel. Pajiba reports that he is in talks to rewrite ‘Avengers’ to better suite his directing style. Not only that, but he also might do polishes on The First Avenger: Captain America.
Joss’ writing style is superb (Alien: Resurrection fell out of his hands) which will only compliment his own direction technique. It would also make a better bridge between ‘Captain America’ and ‘Avengers’. So far, it seems that these group of projects are moving along quite well. All this will only add to Joss’s gigantic fan base.
Do you think Joss Whedon should keep taking jobs in Marvel?
