A new trailer for Samuel Bayer’s remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street has been released. The film stars Jackie Earle Haley as Mr. Kruger and is produced by Michael Bay. I recently watched the original Elm Street and this looks like a great update. I normally don’t check out the countless reboots/remakes/sequels of horror films in theaters, but with this one I may have to. Knowing Michael Bay got his fingers in this one is a bit disappointing but hopefully Jackie Earle Haley can make up for it. Check it out the full-length trailer below via MySpace or see it before The Crazies this weekend. Read the full story

A while back, there was talk that Jackie Earle Haley was in talks to play super-villain Sinestro in the upcoming Green Lantern movie, directed by Martin Campbell and starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular hero.
Haley quickly squashed those rumors, oblivious to any talks going on. Only days ago, it was confirmed Peter Saaragard will play villain Dr. Hector Hammond in the film along with Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Hal Jordan’s love interest.
Now, it appears Haley is still the first (and only?) choice for Sinestro, who apparently still has a place in the film’s narrative.
Writes Drew at HitFix.com: “Jackie Earle Haley is the only choice for Sinestro by the studio…I am willing to say that Haley is the guy…The groundwork is being laid in the first “Lantern” for a much larger role for Sinestro later on if this first movie does well, and they like the idea of continuing their relationship with Haley.”
Remember that Haley’s developed a rather solid working relationship with Warner Bros., between Watchmen and this year’s Nightmare of Elm Street reboot. So though this be a rumor (at best), it wouldn’t be a surprise.
Would you like to see Haley play Sinestro?

Zack Snyder’s anti-superhero epic was released back in March and was met with a rather mixed response. While many seemed unimpressed by Snyder’s ambitious and faithful adaptation, the director’s cut improves on many aspects, adding to an already excellent film that did the same thing the graphic novel did for its medium. Watchmen is an entertaining and ambitious film that delivers on almost every level. The original cut did have it’s flaws, mostly narrative wise, this cut makes most of those issues perish.
The story follows practically the exact same narrative as the graphic novel and it works. Most of the events and character arcs are still the same, except Dr. Manhattan. It still opens with The Comedian’s murder which leads to Rorschach who starts investigating. He sets out to spread the warning, first going to his old partner Nite Owl aka Dan Drieberg. Dan lives an isolated life now and is left without a sense of purpose. Adrian Veidt, former superhero Ozymandius, is now the world’s smartest man and one of the richest. He doesn’t believe in the masked killer theory and is more worried about the world problems to come. The only one with real super powers is Dr. Manhattan who is continually drifting away from humanity. His only connection comes from his relationship with Laurie Jupiter aka Silk Spectre II. Laurie feels as if she is living a lie considering she was forced into this profession of vigilatism due to pressure from her mother.

Warner Brothers has debuted the first photo and look at Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger from the upcoming Platinum Dunes remake of A Nightmare on Elmstreet. This photo was released on Myspace earlier today and another image will soon be released. The first piece of footage will be debuting at comic con this weekend.
This is a nice little teaser photo of Freddy Krueger and its cool enough to get me more excited. I like the route there taking this Freddy in, less tongue and cheek and more scary. This remake is one of the few that I am actually looking forward to and apart of that reason is that Jackie Earle Haley will probably make for a freaky Krueger.
What do you think of Freddy Krueger’s new look?

I’ll admit it. I’ve never heard of Watchmen until Zack Snyder was attached to direct during the summer of 2006. Since I hadn’t read the graphic novel the hype started when I saw the trailer before The Dark Knight. I knew it was something special and after reading the graphic novel during the past couple months my hype increased tenfold. After the lawsuit fiasco got resolved it finally sunk in, I would actually be seeing this very soon. Only watching the trailers and select TV spots, the day finally arrived. From the first frame of Watchmen, as lush yellow completely engulfs the screen while the company logos pop in, eventually fading into that iconic pin, we just hope Snyder doesn’t screw this up. Don’t worry, he doesn’t.
