Last spring we interviewed Ben Stiller at the Night at the Museum 2 premiere and he said he planned to direct Zoolander 2. It looks like that isn’t that case as Deadline is reporting that Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2 scribe Justin Theroux will direct and co-write (with Ben Stiller) a PG-13 Zoolander 2 for Paramount. Theroux is even headed to Paris for Fashion Week to “immerse himself on what is current in fashion”. It is reported that the project has “momentum” and that everyone wants Owen Wilson to return, but no deal is set yet. What is more interesting is that Jonah Hill is in negotiations to play the villain. Read the full story

Having taken a three-year hiatus from feature filmmaking after Rush Hour 3 to spend more time bragging about the models he’s slept with, Brett Ratner has finally decided to go ahead and make another movie. Only problem? This time he’s taking truly talented people down with him.
Tower Heist, which was supposed to be a star vehicle for Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock, about two Trump Tower employees planning a heist of that particular building, has now evolved into something entirely different. It will now be rewritten by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Noah Baumbach and star Ben Stiller. The plot is being changed as to now focus on blue-collar workers robbing a Bernie Madoff-esque figure (who will likely be played by James Caan).

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic were put in charge of a very important decision for the 82nd annual ceremony in 2010. Who should host?
UPDATE: After a few rejected offers, that decision was made tonight. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, upcoming co-stars in Nancy Meyers’ rom-com It’s Complicated, are on tap to host the show on March 7 at the Kodak Theatre, says The Los Angeles Times.
Nikki Finke of Deadline reported earlier today that Robert Downey, Jr. and Ben Stiller have declined the offer to host the upcoming Oscars as a comedy tag team. Specific reasons are unknown at this time. Downey, Jr., was nominated for Academy Award for his supporting performance in Tropic Thunder alongside Stiller. Read the full story
