Since busting on to the scene with Arrested Development in 2003, Michael Cera has worked with many of today’s most popular comedians, and you’d have to be living under a rock to not have seen at least one of his films. Some say he is risking overexposure. But I say Cera has been steadily working toward Kevin Bacon status, developing a film career worthy of his own 6 degrees game.
To be a truly effective Party Game Icon, Cera would have to link to a variety of film actors to allow for a range of players to participate:
a major Hollywood star (for casual movie fans)
an international film star (for film students)
an independent film star (for hipsters)
a film star from Hollywood’s golden age (for anyone over 25).
As you can see below – Cera’s plotted his course well:
Do you believe Michael Cera has reached Kevin Bacon status?Give us your examples in the comments below.
The answer is 11. Only months ago, the defunct Miramax had left Julie Taymor‘s much-anticipated The Tempest in the dark. What should’ve been creative art-house (potential Oscar) fodder didn’t have a distributor or release date.
Now Touchstone is distributing on December 10th and we have a few production stills (two shown above) and an amazing poster (arguably the best of the year) to boot.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is the type of film you expect from Jerry Bruckheimer. In other words, it’s not of the most impressive narrative quality. It’s very inline with his other works. With that said, it still happens to be a quite enjoyable, if utterly forgettable piece, of charming spectacle. The best thing it’s got going for it: it is hilarious for both the right and wrong reasons.
Direct from the official website, a third trailer has been released for Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice directed by John Turtletaub (National Treasure). This new trailer gives us a bit more footage and a few more jokes and one liners, but pretty much stays close to the previous trailers. Read the full story

Mike Newell‘s previous blockbuster, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was actually quite good. I loved the videogame series and this seems to have a lot of the same elements. The script looks like it could use the part, but coming from Disney and Bruckheimer this should be a fun summer flick. Check out some HD screencaps below (click for hi-res):
