The Robert Rodriguez-produced, Nimrod Antal-directed Predators, a reboot of sorts for the Predator franchise, has been enough of a success at the box office both domestically and internationally that it seems like a sequel may be forthcoming. 20th Century Fox, the film’s distributor, is apparently interested in such a project, and because of this, it seems more likely as time goes by, according to Robert Rodriguez.
Speaking to IGN (via /Film) at Comic Con, the first film’s producer said that the studio has been asking him for ideas on where to take a second film in the series, and he was quoted as saying:
The bigger movie would actually be what comes following that. That kind of sets up a new storyline, new location and world, and then you can really go crazy from there.
He said that he could direct the film, but more people (like me) would want him to make a second Sin City film rather than a second Predators. He also said that he’s not sure what the second film will be called, but I’m sure he’ll be able to come up with something that is fitting.
I wasn’t a big fan of Predators, thinking that it was mildly amusing but very forgettable summer escapist fare. There is potential if the direction Rodriguez discussed is taken by making it more large-scale than the first film, and I liked Adrien Brody’s performance, so if he could return, I would be willing to give a second film in the series a shot.
What do you think of the idea of a Predators sequel? Did you like the first film?

Splice, directed by Vincenzo Natali, is deliciously twisted. It reaches strange, insane and unpredictable places that can only elicit an unexpected, sadistic joy worth basking in. If you’re a sucker for Cronenberg and Romero, then this is right in your wheel house. It must be said though, while the last act does land in that genre of craziness, the rest of the film more or less plays it as a drama, and an effective one at that. Read the full story
