Akiva Schaffer‘s Neighborhood Watch has been compiling cast members left and right over the past month, and the latest addition happens to be a Saturday Night Live veteran. As THR tells us, Will Forte will be joining the movie — this puts him alongside Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jonah Hill, Richard Ayoade, and Nicholas Braun.
There aren’t any details on who he might be playing, but the Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg-scripted comedy follows husbands in a neighborhood watch group who uncover a plan by aliens to wipe out humanity; he’s probably playing one of those husbands. And I’m sure Forte will do a good job with it, since the guy was able to lead a comedy last year with the amazing MacGruber. (If you think it’s odd when I say amazing, then I would guess that you haven’t actually seen MacGruber.)
He’s been moving toward features recently, with roles in Rock of Ages, I Hate You, Dad, and Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie all set up. Maybe he’s planning to stick to movies; that wouldn’t bother me at all. Shooting on the film will probably begin soon — since this has had something of a casting spurt — and a July 27th, 2012 release is scheduled.
Are you a Forte fan? Do his comedic talents seem suitable for Neighborhood Watch?
