Yesterday we witnessed what would happen if you gathered some of year’s top directors in a room and let them talk for about an hour. While various topics came up, one interesting bit of news arrived, as David O. Russell revealed he has written a horror film. “I wrote a couple of things that someone may… Eli Roth actually may do one,” he said during the roundtable.

Revealing its genre, he went on to say, “I wrote a horror movie a few years ago.. I wrote for producer Colleen Camp, a horror film that I thought was interesting. And Eli thinks it’s interesting. I think he’s going to make it more interesting. It’s emotional, you know, I think it’s—you’ll see,” But that’s all we got, as he concluded, “I don’t want to say any more. I’ll let Eli talk about it.”

He also revealed “a sort of time thing” (sci-fi, please?), but we’ll have to wait and see what comes of these various projects. In the meantime, his latest work, American Hustle, arrives in less than a month and today brings the first clip. Featuring Jennifer Lawrence nearly catching fire (nice cross-promotion, Hollywood) thanks to Christian Bale‘s “science oven,” it’s a snappy, energetic preview that has us looking forward to the full feature. Check it out below thanks to MTV.

American Hustle opens on December 13th.
