Watch: J.J. Abrams and Gabe Newell’s 20-Minute Discussion on Storytelling

Posted by , on February 13, 2013 at 12:54 pm

Last week brought us the brief tidbit that Valve president Gabe Newell and Star Trek & upcoming Star Wars director J.J. Abrams may or may not be working together on feature film adaptations of Portal and/or Half-Life, but now we’ve got their entire discussion to share.

Getting together for the 2013 D.I.C.E. SUMMIT to deliver the keynote speech Storytelling Across Platforms: Who Benefits Most, The Audience or the Player?, the full 20-minute discussion is now live. The worthwhile talk features the two bantering back and forth about different storytelling elements, sharing clips of Cloverfield, Half-Life and even Jaws. Check it out below, where Abrams also reveals how he’s already mixed the universe of Star Wars and Star Trek together.
