Although it doesn’t arrive in theaters for another two weeks, Woody Allen‘s next film is riding high off some major buzz, with many singling out an excellent performance from Cate Blanchett. Following the trailer, we’ve now got our first clip, featuring the actress discuss a moment of shame as her high-class New York lifestyle is turned upside down, comparatively speaking. But before we get to that, we have to highlight an excellent piece from the LA Times on Allen.

One should just go straight over there, as the director opens up about his work habits and much more, including the response his films gets. On the success of Midnight in Paris, he says, “I don’t know why they like one and not another. If I could figure it out, I might be able to get rich.” For Jasmine, Allen says he doesn’t expect a hit considering its “serious, dramatic nature.” As for his lead actress, he adds, “I mean, she’s Cate Blanchett, what can you do? You hire her and get out of the way.” Check out what he hired her for below in the first clip, which unfortunately doesn’t have an embed yet but can be viewed by clicking the image.

Blue Jasmine opens on July 26th.
