Despite being considered a financial disappointment, it didn’t take long for the Wachowskis to find their next project following the ambitious Cloud Atlas. The duo are currently in production on their next sci-fi epic Jupiter Ascending and now their Atlas co-director has found his next directing gig. According to Deadline, Tom Tykwer will be teaming once again with Tom Hanks for a new project.

The Heaven director has signed on for A Hologram For the King, an adaptation of Dave Eggers‘ recent novel, with Hanks set to lead. Scripted by Tykwer himself, financing is now coming together for the story that follows a failed business man venturing to Saudi Arabia. As a major fan of Tykwer’s work, I’m greatly looking forward to what he can do again with Hanks, who’ll be seen in two major fall movies, Paul Greengrass’ Captain Phillips and as Walt Disney in Saving Mr. Banks.

Check out the synopsis below for the novel and pick it up on Amazon.

In a rising Saudi Arabian city, far from weary, recession-scarred America, a struggling businessman named Alan Clay pursues a last-ditch attempt to stave off foreclosure, pay his daughter’s college tuition, and finally do something great. In A Hologram for the King, Dave Eggers takes us around the world to show how one man fights to hold himself and his splintering family together.
