In the seven months since J.J. Abrams signed on the dotted line to direct Star Wars: Episode VII there has been exactly one worthwhile update regarding the projectJohn Williams will be returning to score. Now, just a few weeks after that news, the third has landed. Revealed at a Los Angeles ASC event today, Boba Fett Fan Club secured the news from cinematographer Dan Mindel that he would be reteaming with the director to shoot the sci-fi sequel.

Unlike the two most recent Star Wars prequels, which were captured on digital HDCAM, the film will be using glorious 35mm — Kodak film stock 5219, specifically. As for Mindel, he recently came off The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Savages, John Carter and all of Abrams films (except for Super 8), but he began his career working closely with the late Tony Scott on Enemy of the State, Spy Game and Domino (which, in our wildest dreams, we can’t help but hope Star Wars borrows at least partially from). Check out a sampling of his career below, which may or may not include lens flares.

Are you looking forward to the next Star Wars being shot on film?
