With the WGA, PGA and DGA all weighing in on their respective guild picks, its time for the directors of photography to deliver, as The American Society of Cinematographers have released their nominations this morning. If you paid attention to the BAFTA noms a few hours ago, they went with the exact same field, including Seamus McGarvey for his work on Anna Karenina, Roger Deakins and Skyfall, Janusz Kaminski for Lincoln, Claudio Miranda for Life of Pi and Danny Cohen for Les Miserables.

Notably absent from the batch is Mihai Malaimare Jr.‘s gorgeous work for The Master, while Wally Pfister for The Dark Knight Rises, Robert Richardson and Django Unchained, as well as Greig Fraser for his work on Zero Dark Thirty were also missing. Les Miserables seems to be the odd bunch of the group, but it would be great to see Roger Deakins finally secure an Oscar win for his extraordinary career, so hopefully this is a precursor.
