‘Silver Linings Playbook’ and ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ Top 2013 Spirit Awards Nominees

Posted by , on November 27, 2012 at 1:43 pm

After The Artist picked up the major prizes at the Independent Spirit Awards last year, Film Independent is at it again with their nominations for the 2013 ceremony. Announced this afternoon, we’ve got the full list of nods today, which heavily feature Moonrise Kingdom and Silver Linings Playbook — both picking up five nominations. A bit of controversy comes with the latter title, since the film’s budget is reportedly over the $20 million cut-off point, but as they always do come awards season, Weinsteins will get their way. Other surprises include Linda Cardellini getting a Best Female Lead nom for Return, while Matthew McConaughey got recognized for both Killer Joe and Magic Mike.
