Jason Fuchs, who made his feature screenwriting debut with Ice Age: Continental Drift, has been hired to pen The Magic Catalogue. According to Variety, Robert Zemeckis‘ ImageMovers banner will be producing the project for Disney.

The sci-fi adventure story was developed by story artist Chris Appelhans, which revolves “around teens who inadvertently acquire a cache of high-tech weapons the likes of which have never been seen.” With production obviously still at the beginning stages, that’s about all the information on the project we have thus far.

As some background on the persons involved, Appelhans served as visual development artist on Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, the environment designer for The Fantastic Mr. Fox, an illustrator for Coraline, as well as a character designer on Monster House. To say the least, he’s got some pretty hefty experience to bring to this project.

As for the newly found scribe, he was hired last year to script the adaptation of The Clock Without a Face for Montecito Picture Co. and Paramount. He helped co-write the made-for-TV musical Ragz for Nickelodeon, which premiered this past summer, and also did some adapting work on Daniel Waters‘ supernatural thriller Break My Heart 1,000 Times for Gold Circle Films.

Zemeckis will be producing the project with his partners Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey.

Do you think Fuchs has what it takes to script The Magic Catalogue?
