After months of speculation and negotiation, we have our Grace Kelly. Nicole Kidman is in talks to play the famous, and famously beautiful, actress in Grace of Monaco, written by Arash Amel and directed by Olivier Dahan (La Vie en Rose). The film is working with a budget of around $15 million [Variety].

Amel’s script was featured on the 2011 Black List.

Taking place over the span of about a year in the life of the famous starlet (approximately December 1961 and November 1962), Kelly finds herself an Academy Award winner and mother who also happens to be a princess of Monaco, married to Prince Rainier III. Kelly was called upon to aid Monaco with tax reform, convincing Charles de Gaulle, leader of France, to give Rainier six months to complete the reform.

Amel’s been a busy man thanks to this script of his, currently writing the sequel to I Am Legend as well as being responsible for the upcoming Aaron Eckhart-actioner The Expatriate.

Kidman, who recently revived her somewhat-fledging career thanks to her Oscar-winning turn in Rabbit Hole, seems to be making the right decisions these days. She’s got supporting roles in Lee Daniels’ thriller The Paperboy and Chan-wook Park’s drama Stoker, not to mention a star in the upcoming Hemingway & Gellhorn.

What will a Grace Kelly movie look like, starring Nicole Kidman?
