It’s hard to believe that there’s actually a new Terrence Malick movie being filmed while another project of his is either very late into the editing process or completed, and simply awaiting a release date. So, while you’re all waiting for The Tree of Life to have anything released for it, you can enjoy some details on his romantic drama which is currently filming, thanks to the newspaper TheBigheartTimes (via ThePlaylist).
There isn’t really much, and what it is isn’t significant, but considering that his fans are often an information-seeking group, this will have to do for now. First, Barry Pepper has joined the cast which already boasts Ben Affleck, Javier Bardem, Olga Kurylenko, Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz. His character is said to be a priest, as is Bardem’s. How this could tie into the “romantic drama” aspect of the story is anybody’s guess, but one could posit some theories as to its role in the film. That’s all for now, but it’s certainly better than the straws we’ve been grasping at looking for details on this movie’s production.
We won’t be seeing this movie for quite some time, as a clip from an interview that Brad Pitt did with Charlie Rose while promoting Benjamin Button in late 2008 where he talked about the already filmed The Tree of Life should put into perspective. I’m greatly looking forward to whatever he has next for us, but remember that it’s best to temper any expectations due to the fact that we won’t be given the opportunity to experience said film for a long time.
What do you think of this news, and are you excited for Malick’s next films?
