The road to the Oscars is well underway with the Academy announcing that last year’s Best Supporting Actress winner, Mo’Nique, will announce this year’s nominees on Tuesday, January 25th, 2011. You’ll have to get up bright and early to catch the live announcement as they are broadcast at 8:30AM (EST).  The feisty comedienne will announce the nominees with AMPAS president Tom Sherak. The duty of announcing the nominees is usually given to former winners and nominees and have recently included Kathy Bates, Anne Hathaway and Forrest Whitaker.

Mo’Nique is a great coice for this announcement and signals that the Academy is being very welcoming toward the star who surprisingly entered the Oscar radar last year with her astonishing performance in Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.

Are you excited for this year’s Oscar nominees? What do you think of Mo’nique as an announcer?
